Flower Bulbs for Fall Planting 2023
The catalog at which you are looking is a compilation of all flower bulbs which can be planted in the Fall. It is a listing of the items which we offer this Fall with some basic information and small pictures. There are columns to indicate which flower bulbs can be planted for Cut Forcing and those which are suggested for Potted plants. All flower bulbs listed can be used in Landscapes: Paperwhites and Oxalis can only be used outdoors in warmer climate zones.
As flower bulbs are dug and crop information becomes available, we hope to inform you. Weather always plays a big role and this year is no different. The Tulip crop has been greatly affected by the late intense heat coupled with a heavy rainfall and thus we expect smaller bulbs and possible shortages.
Make sure the flower bulbs
1-Are planted upon arrival, especially if they have been specially programmed (such as Tulips). Otherwise you will forfeit the programming, resulting in poor quality flowers or "no shows".
2-Are not held in freezers, but (if needed) at 40°F. for 5°C Tulips or at 48°F. for 9°C.Tulips until planting. Regular Tulips can be held at either temperature. All other bulbs are best held between 60-70° F. (15-20°C.).
3-are planted in well-drained soil (unless grown hydroponically) to establish an excellent root system.
4-Are kept away from ethylene producing products (e.g. fruit) at all times.

3-Do NOT freeze prior to planting.
4-Are planted in well-drained soil, pH 6.5 to 7.

2-Are planted in a cultivated, well-drained soil, so they do not sit in water after a heavy rainfall.
3-Have enough time to develop a good root system before (possible) cold sets in to ensure high quality flowers.
4-Plant depth is approximately 3 times the height of the bulbs to be planted.
